Today is the day: We go to Σαντορίνη and stay 3 nights in Οία!! We had to get up very early to get the train to Πειραιάς. Being in Εξάρχεια made Polyvios a little bit rebellious. The anarchist in him made him smoke at the metro station although it’s strictly prohibited.
It was still dark when we arrived at the port of Piraeus. We really appreciated that we fetched our tickets some days in advance. Although very early, about 6 o’clock, it was very crowded and every one was hustling around. It took some time to find our vessel.
The port is located outside Φήρα. My omniscient travel guide recommended a 2,5 hour walk from Φήρα to Οία and I really wanted to go there but Polyvios seriously insisted on renting a car. Et voilà : Jimmy, very old and rusty with a door that did not close properly but also with four functioning wheels.
I can’t wait to get to Οία, since I saw the pictures of it. The white houses with their bright blue roofs and doors!
We found our accommodation on the Internet. It’s called Oia sunset and is located only some minutes from the central bus station. The rooms are simple but clean with an own bathroom, kitchen, a balcony or terrace and free WiFi. Breakfast was not included, but if someone wants for 10 € the day available. The owner Stavros was quite nice and seemed to be very fond of Polyvios. Perhaps because he was the only Greek in the hotel.
