We got up early that morning – in fact to early, for Polyvios set the alarm clock at 5 and not at 6. Therefor we arrived at our hotel 1 hour earlier as well and had to wait until the room was prepared for the check-in. Polyvios wasn’t fond of having to wait so long and I told him in Athens Grande Bretagne or another hotel of this category we wouldn’t have to wait so long. We booked the Novum Hotel Aldea Centrum in Berlin Schönhausen. According to the internet it is only 10 within reach of the KaDeWe.
After getting the room Polyvios was eager to visit the Mauerpark Fleamarket, which opens every sunday 10-18. So we took the U2 to Alexanderplatz and changed into the U8 till Bernaustr, where the Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer is located.
The Fleamarket was so overwhelmingly huge, I can’t even remember where I saw what. So many things were offered: vintage furniture, old bikes, vintage clothes, art, … I definitely have to come again!
later that day, we strolled through the streets of Berlin. We went to the Spree to get a glimpse of the Berlin Cathedral (we will visit it on Tuesday!) and visited the DDR Museum. I think I would have looked good in an DDR livingroom!
